For our first AEG event of 2014, we are planning an activity to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Great Alaska earthquake. The Anchorage Museum is hosting an evening event from 5-7 p.m. on March 27 that is free and open to the public. The commemoration starts at 5 p.m. in the museum's atrium. At 6 p.m., Dr. George Plafker, USGS Emeritus, will present a lecture in the auditorium about the effects of the 1964 earthquake. This event should be well-attended, so allow plenty of time to find parking and to walk to the museum. After the presentation, we will then make our way over to the Crush Wine Bistro and Cellar, a short walking distance from the museum, for an evening get-together.
